Primarily photojournalistic with traditional accents. Most clients will agree they do not want their wedding with absolutely no formals, which would be true if it was shot 100% photojournalistic. We take the best of both and combine them to create something clients love!
Do you shoot black & white and color?
99.9% of the pictures are taken in color. There are some situations that B&W is a better choice, but for the most part all photographs are color and then converted to black & white.
How many pictures will you take?
It really depends on the length of coverage. The number can vary greatly, 400-1200 images for a single photographer, 600-2600 with a second photographer. These numbers depend greatly on the length of the coverage, number of guests, and several other factors.
Are the high resolution files available for purchase
The high resolution files, also called Digital Negatives or Original Files are included with most coverage options. You will receive a DVD containing all of the negatives when your album is delivered.
Will you work off a shot list we have created?
Yes. but please remember, we cannot guarantee every shot on the list. If you have a shot list to work from, we suggest you assign a close friend or relative to gather freinds and family (especially for formal photos.) This will help us immensely since we don't know who most of the extended family members are.
Yes. We have no problem traveling across town or across the globe.

Who will be the photographer at my wedding?
Jim Karr will be the primary photographer. The second associate photographer, if selected, varies depending on the location and availability. Jim hand selects his associates to insure the best possible work.
When Jim is booked for a date, associates will be available to cover your wedding date. You will be able to see their work before booking. We will never tell you Jim will be there to shoot your wedding and have an associate show up on your wedding day. You will always know who will be covering your wedding.
Do you use film or digital cameras?
We shoot 100% digital equipment. Digital allows us the fine control necessary to tell the story of your wedding day.
Yes. The wedding album design process is a collaborative effort. You will be involved in every step of the design.
Can I purchase a larger album?
Yes. Album upgrades are readily available.
Do you shoot engagement and bridal portraits?

The albums we carry are under constant review and we encourage feedback from our clients regarding their album experience. As of January 1, 2007 we carry 2 varieties of matted albums and 2 flush (coffee table) albums.
Can we buy additional prints not included in our package?

1 to 16 months in advance.
I definitely want to book. Can’t you hold my date without a retainer?
We will pencil you in for a date and notify you if someone else is interested in booking your date. However, all dates are first come, first served. In order to hold the date we need two things, a signed contract and your retainer.
I definitely want to book. Can’t you hold my date without a contract?

Within 7-10 days of your wedding, your images will be posted online. Your proof magazine will be ready within 30 days.
What options do I have for viewing my images?
At this time we offer online proofing. 4x6 proofs are available for an additional fee.
Why are 4x6 proofs additional?
A typical wedding consists of over 500 photos and we have yet to find a better proofing method than online. The largest proof book for 4x6 prints holds 200 proofs, that means for a typical wedding there would be 3-6 volumes!
Yes. All final prints and album photos are retouched.
Is there any fee for retouching or color correction?

How long do you archive images for after the wedding day?
Images are kept on our computers for 1 year. After the first year they are archived. Our archive consists of multiple locations and multiple media allowing for the best possible storage and recovery results.
Why hire a professional photographer, why not use an amateur?
As a professional, our primary business is photography. We have the necessary licenses and insurance should anything happen on your wedding day. A professional knows how to effectively manage time and keep things moving along during the entire day.
Why is professional photography so expensive?
Professional equipment is quite costly and we are always purchasing new equipment to keep up with the quality demands of our customers. Also understand that even though we may only be at your wedding for 6-12 hours,we work a minimum of 50 hours after your wedding! So each wedding includes approximately 56-62 hours of labor.
How many weddings have you photographed?
Since 2000 approximately 160 weddings. In 2004 Karr Photography shot 28 weddings. 2005 we photographed 32, for 2006 we photographed 33 weddings.
Why do some of the pictures in your galleries appear on another photographer's website?
As photographers we occasionally assist other photographers with weddings. We own the copyright to the images; unfortunately some studios disregard our rights and use our images to promote their studio. Every single image on our website was taken by Jim. We NEVER use images that do not belong to us!
Why would you want a second photographer?
While we attempt to capture every detail of your wedding, sometimes it is too much for only one photographer to handle so we strongly recommend a second photographer for covering weddings with over 200 guests.
How much does your typical couple budget for photography?
Our typical couples budget $2400-6000.
